Raw and Cooked Flying Fishes


The Yami Tribe’s focus of event would be the “Flying Fish Festivals” happened between March and June. It has divided into six different parts. At the start, there would be a blessing of the boats followed by praying for a bountiful catch and summoning the fish. Afterwards will be the first fishing night ceremony and finally, fish storing ceremony, and fishing cessation ceremony. The men of the tribe will be in their loincloths, silver helmets, and blue and white strips vests, when they face the sea to pray for a fruitful catch. Only the tribesmen are allow to participate in this festivals. (Indigeous Ceremonies)


Yami Dances

Another festival that is the highlight of the Yami Tribes would be the “Torch Festival” where Yaims celebrate the launching of the new boats they built for months to years. Tribesmen would be wearing their traditional dress again to drive away evil spirits. All the Yami people would be dancing traditional dances like the “Welcome Dance” and the “Hair Swing Dance”.
