Taiwan makes use of its natural attractions and focuses on ecotourism.
1.1 National Scenic Areas (NSA)
There are a total of 13 national scenic areas (NSA) administered by The Taiwan Tourism Bureau. They are namely the North Coast & Guan Yin Shan, Northeast & Yilan Coast, East Coast, East Rift Valley, Dapeng Bay, Maolin, Alishan, Sun Moon Lake, Tri-Mountain, Penghu, Matsu, Southwest Coast and Siraya. Each of these distinctive islands have their unique points and different types of recreational activities available as some are strategically located near coastal zones while some are at mountainous areas. 1.2 National Parks
Another nature-based product of Taiwan is the 8 national parks preserved. They are the Yangmingshan, Taroko, Kinmen, Shei-Pa, Yushan, Dongsha Atoll Marine, Kenting and Taijiang National Parks. Other important cultures of Taiwan would be its traditional literature and heritage of the people living there. Examples of ancient games would be the “whipping tops” (Discover Taiwan: Literature and Arts) and their aboriginal cultures where tourists will not be able to find in other countries.
